Just Let Him Go

“I hope you know what you’re doing,”
he said to her one night.
Didn't have the heart to tell him,
“I don't, but this feels right.”

He thinks he has nothing to offer
she thinks he'll find someone else
if both are braced for failure
how long can it really last?

She's not afraid of relapse
he's afraid to disappoint
she knows life can be a struggle
he struggles to be himself

She knows why he is stressed
so tries to leave him alone.
When she sees he has time for others
Her gut tells her, “just let him go.”
